Recently my computer has been asking me to update my spyware software. I did not recognize the brand, but it said something similar to Adware Protector, or something that sounded legitimate. I clicked on the link and thought that I was updating my spyware, but I was wrong.

I had actually installed a virus on my computer that was trying to get my personal information. I was unable to open any internet website without getting a message that the page contained viruses and that I need to purchase this spyware package to clean it up. After doing some research I discovered that this was a new type of virus that was circulating on the internet. I tried to clean the program off my computer myself using free spyware removal software from the internet, but this proved unsuccessful.

After long hours of work, I was able to access all of my files in safe mode and back them up. I had to erase my entire hard drive to cleanse my computer of this virus. This virus shows me the importance of updating my anti-virus software regularly.
